About Robert Wetherell
Robert T. Wetherell, J.D., is licensed to practice before all courts in the State of Idaho, including the federal courts and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Wetherell has had extensive trial experience in almost all aspects of litigation. His previous areas of practice include environmental defense and coverage issues, professional negligence, products liability, automobile negligence, wrongful termination, and personnel matters, defense of governmental entities, real estate, construction law, and commercial litigation.
Mr. Wetherell is a member of the Idaho State Bar Association, the Boise Adjusters Association, and the Idaho Association of Defense Counsel. In addition, Mr. Wetherell is involved in community activities which include his previous role as legal counsel for Idaho Special Olympics, and as a Board member and President of the Idaho Shakespeare Festival. Mr. Wetherell is admitted to practice before all courts in the State of Idaho, including the federal courts and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. In over 30 years of practice, Mr. Wetherell has represented a variety of clients at trial before the ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco and Seattle and the Idaho Supreme Court. Mr. Wetherell has tried cases throughout the state of Idaho, from Sandpoint to Idaho Falls. Mr. Wetherell is certified as a Special Attorney General for the State of Idaho and has represented the State of Idaho and over 15 of Idaho 44 counties.
Upon admission to the Bar in Idaho, Mr. Wetherell became a law clerk to United States District Judge Fred M. Taylor and United States District Judge Ray McNichols of the United States District Court for the District of Idaho. Upon completion of the two-year clerkship with the federal courts in Idaho, Mr. Wetherell entered private practice focusing on real estate disputes, business defense, insurance defense, and the defense of governmental entities. Mr. Wetherell was born in Mountain Home, Idaho, on February 17, 1958. He obtained his law degree from the University of Idaho in 1982. Mr. Wetherell graduated from Saint John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota, where he was a member of the Honor’s program and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in government in 1980. He also attended the University of Salzburg in Salzburg, Austria, during his senior year at Saint John’s University. He has been admitted to the Idaho State Bar since 1983.
