Karen Silva brings extensive experience in general civil litigation with a primary emphasis on all aspects of family law including divorce, adoption, child custody, and criminal defense. For the past ten years, Ms. Silva was a solo practitioner managing and developing her civil litigation and trial practice in Boise, Idaho. Whether she is handling a contentious child custody case or negotiating complex property or support issues, Karen stays focused on her clients and their goals. Ms. Silva is a volunteer attorney with the Family Advocates CASA program.
Ms. Silva earned her juris doctorate from the University of Idaho in 1996, where she was a Langroise Scholarship recipient. She received her Bachelor of Arts in English, cum laude, from Boise State University in 1990 and was an officer and member of Sigma Tau Delta an English Honors Society, and attended the College of Idaho completing coursework towards a Masters degree in Counseling before attending law school. Ms. Silva is a former law clerk to the Honorable Gerald L. Weston of the Third Judicial District for the State of Idaho. During law school she was an intern with the University of Idaho’s clinical law program and argued before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Ms. Silva is a former member of the American Inn of Court No. 130, and was a 1995 NAPIL Summer Rural Legal Corps Fellowship recipient working with Idaho Legal Aid Services serving low-income and migrant farm workers throughout Southern Idaho. In addition, Ms. Silva is a proud member of the Women in Networking (WIN) group.
Karen is a member of the Idaho State Bar Association and the United States District Court for the District of Idaho.
